Food Access Coordinator

Full time (35-40 hrs/week), $16/hr

Farmshare Austin has a mission to grow a healthy local food community by increasing food access, teaching new farmers and preserving farmland.

The Food Access Coordinator will be responsible for supporting and implementing Farmshare Austin’s Fresh for Less Food Access Programs, including the Mobile Markets and Curbside Delivery. The goal of these programs is to provide fresh, seasonal produce at accessible prices in communities facing socioeconomic and geographic barriers to healthy food access. Fresh for Less serves a diverse population, including a significant portion of Spanish-only speaking customers.

The Food Access Coordinator primarily will be responsible for operating up to three weekly Mobile Markets and/or weekly Curbside delivery routes, including packing and delivering Curbside orders, driving market vehicles, setting up market sites, making and accurately recording sales, and gathering customer and community feedback. The Food Access Coordinator also will be responsible for assisting with updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, including making recommendations for improvements. The Coordinator will be expected to follow all Farmshare Austin safety protocols (such as limiting customer contact during order delivery and adhering to mask policy) relating to their position.

Depending on experience and interests, the full-time Food Access Coordinator will also assist with a variety of other program tasks, including operations-related tasks (cooler management, fleet maintenance, etc.) and/or website/graphic-design based work. Proficiency in any of these fields is a plus but not required. However, enthusiasm and willingness to learn new things is a must!

Members of the Food Access team may be required to work a small number of hours (1-2) weekly on the farm. This time is spent working in the field and/or in post-harvest activities under the guidance of the Farm team. There will also be 2-3 hours per week devoted to staff meetings (currently held virtually) and administrative work. Employees also may be expected to attend and/or assist with Farmshare community events and fundraisers and other duties as assigned.
