Farmshare Austin is seeking

new board members!

 

We are looking to create a diverse Board of Directors representative of folks who are committed to advancing the mission of Farmshare Austin, who bring a strong equity lens to our organization, and who reflect the diversity of Central Texas.


This is a great opportunity to serve on the board of a growing local organization that is committed to building a healthier local food system in Central Texas.

Candidates
The ideal candidates will have some of the following qualifications:
  • Professional expertise in areas such as law, fundraising, finance, land access (purchasing/financing), community health, farming, and/or food value-chain.
  • Previous experience with non-profit financing and regulatory compliance

  • Previous Board Experience or non-profit fundraising

  • Experience working with economically diverse populations and multilingual communities

Board Responsibilities and Duties

  • As a board member, you will advise the ED on the organization's efforts towards our mission, and lend your expertise to help us expand program areas.

  • The Board of Directors meets every other month and each board member participates in a committee which meets in the interim months.

  • Members are expected to attend Farmshare fundraising events which happen 3-4 times a year.

  • Board members are responsible for helping the organization meet its financial goals. They will be asked to make a financial contribution to the organization, either through a gift of personal significance, or a meaningful personal effort. This personal effort could include donating professional expertise, fundraising from donors, recruiting event sponsors, or soliciting matching gifts and in-kind donations. Each board member will have a yearly goal of contributing $2,000 to Farmshare’s fundraising efforts.
