Raised in Michigan, Makenzie’s earliest memories were shaped by the outdoors — eating cherries in Traverse City at the height of summer and wandering through apple orchards and pumpkin patches each fall. These seasonal rituals planted the seed for a lifelong relationship with food: rooted in place, connection, and shared experience.
After a decade of working in advertising, she stepped away to lean back into something that had always felt familiar: her relationship with nature. When she moved to Austin, she began volunteering on local farms to become more involved in local food systems, building relationships that eventually led her to the Farmer Starter program, where she graduated in Spring 2025.
She believes food should be accessible, approachable, and thoughtfully grown — something that nourishes both body and soul — and that flowers play an equally important role in how we experience the table, the seasons and each other.
Now growing through the Central Texas Farm Incubator Collaborative, with land hosted at Hope Full Farm, Makenzie is building Feast & Flora — a small farm focused on producing vibrant, seasonal vegetables and flowers grown with intention and creativity. Feast & Flora is designed to inspire others to cook, gather, and create meaningful moments of their own, bringing a sense of warmth and connection from the field into everyday life.
